September 27, 2008song thingy stolen from eyelinersmudge xInstructions: Put your music player on shuffle. Write down the first 20 songs that play and say who or what they remind you of. If the song doesn't remind you of anything skip it or make up something fun. No cheating to make yourself look cool. When you're done tag five people to do the same. 1) Sleeping pills - Suede. This song is rather beautiful, it's so elegantly romantic yet very sad. It reminds me of....drinking lots of wine and taking sleeping pills, but just lying there in quiet hazy despair. 2) Moonage daydream - David Bowie. This song is quite funny, I'm a space invader! But it's a fabulous classic. It reminds me of when I was very young because my mother used to play it. 3) Bones - Radiohead. This reminds me of these fields you get in England in May, which are bright yellow. I can't remember the name of them but that's not important, it reminds me of this because me and my friend used to play Radiohead at all the little villages as we drove past haha. It's depressing yet uplifting I think...'I used to fly like Peter Pan' That's one hell of a lyric. 4) Yamaya - Queen Adreena. This song is partly instrumental, it features the best guitar and drumming I've ever heard, and Katie Jane Garside's vocal is beautiful, she sounds like a fairy. She starts muttering about 'Yamaya' at the end, which is wonderfully insane. 5) Grace - Jeff Buckley. Amazing vocal, slightly disconcerting rock song, which stirs up many emotions. Reminds me of feeling sick, for some reason...So whenever I listen to it I feel sick, but it's still an amazing song. 6) Oscilate Wildly - The Smiths. This is an instrumental which makes me feel teary, it reminds me of the ups and downs of life. A very clever song, and such a witty name. 7) Disassociative - Marilyn Manson. I don't normally like Manson, but Mechanical Animals is a beautiful album. This song has a shimmering riff and speaks of a 'cosmic sadness', to quote Byron. 'Dead astronaut in space' 8) Life becoming a landslide - Manic Street Preachers. A very very haunting song, which sounds hollow but has lots of energy. Makes me feel very sad - reminds me of...depression. Reminds me of someone I used to know who was an alcoholic... 9) Disorder - Joy Division - Reminds me of autumn, I used to sit in the leaves at school skiving class and chainsmoking listening to this. You can feel so much pain in this song, but at the same time it's a short poppy song. 'I've got the spirit - but lose the feeling' Ian Curtis was a true poet. 10) Anyone can play guitar - Radiohead. Haha, this song is hilarious but cute. It's very sarcastic, posing with my guitar kind of song....you have to see the video with this, haha. Reminds me of laughing at how camp Radiohead were with some friends... I'll leave it there because I have run out of earthly time :( xx
